    Breathless

It’s the anticipation…chugging up the hill on a wooden roller coaster. Knowing…knowing it’s coming soon! The adrenaline is pumping. The expectation of the moment to come. Tomorrow is a milestone. I am bowed down and breathless. Life is a little like that? Isn’t it? Can you feel it? Walk with me on this one… Have you noticed the way the sun paints light patterns on the lake on a summer day? Have you stared into the flames of a lazy outdoor fire? When you opened your eyes this morning did you say, “thank you“? Have you ever held your breath when you heard beautiful music? Are you aware that there are…

    Caught Unawares

It started off so innocently, just a quick trip to the store. I had a coupon! I would see if I could find a fun way to use it. So, off I went to the arts & crafts store a short distance away. I was humming as I drove, sunshine streaming through the windshield. It was a beautiful, summery August day in Texas. Part of me was secretly longing for Fall. The nip in the air, the smell of burning leaves and Michigan apple cider! I know it’s still weeks away in the South, but one can dream, right? The Farmer’s Market was closing up shop when I pulled in.…

    What is Ordinary?

The things we see, smell, taste and hear, People we pass on the street, Hopes that are deep within our heart, Memories cherished and replayed, Loved ones we run to and hug, Laughter that bubbles forth, Joys that brighten the day, Friends who call and share, Truth that never wavers, Majestic sunrises and sunsets, Stars that twinkle in the night sky, Waves that crash upon the shore, Lightning that releases nitrates to Earth, And a lover whose hand is warm upon your skin… Every day these things happen. Every moment magic is upon us. There is no “ordinary”… It is all extraordinary. – RG

    Perfect Love

Yesterday was Sunday…and church was amazing. This post is a continuation of that. There are days and times in our life when we trudge through, knowing we need to put one foot in front of the other – then, all at once, it’s like we are dancing. The baggage of life slips away. The beauty of everything that is around us seems to intensify. It captures our attention and our perspective changes. A friend of mine says, “What you focus on expands”. Yes, that’s right! So today I’m looking up. Blue skies, sunlight – oh sure, maybe it’s a little too hot, but who cares? Life is beautiful because if…

    Patience

So, a friend of mine has nicknamed me “Patience”. I think he is just a little sarcastic. Still, it got me thinking. I am definitely wired to push, pursue, create, progress, produce…yeah, all of those things. I think they are good. They are noble. They are necessary. I feel really good when I’m in that zone. Then there is this Patience thing. It sounds so passive to me. Now I am starting realize, it may not be! Let’s look at it this way. I love plants. Watching things grow is a study of beauty and reveals the miracle of creation. It’s stunning. However, in our world, we don’t have “Jack…

    My Girl

Some people might say my girl is spoiled…I say, naw! She’s not spoiled. She is loved. Sammy is a rescue dog, which is a fancy way of saying I got her at the Pound. She was still young, covered in downy fur with that same expression in her dark eyes. I thought she looked adorable and sweet. Little did I know Red Heelers (of which she is a part) can be notoriously stubborn. I think I heard somewhere pets resemble their owners? I wonder what that means? LOL. It’s hard to believe she is 10! The years have really flown. In this picture she is watching out the windows, looking…
