    Little Things

Today as I was putting away my silverware from the dishwasher, and I remembered that Mom and Dad had given them to me as a Christmas present a few years ago. Suddenly the utilitarian knives and forks seemed so much lovelier and incredibly dear. All because Mom and Dad had wrapped up a rectangular box and put it under a Christmas tree. It was almost as if they were in the kitchen with me. There are so many things around us that we see, touch and experience on a daily basis that may seem mundane. Are they? Are they, really? I don’t think so…walk with me on this one… What…

    A-B-Cs

As I sit in the peaceful solitude of my living room, it is hard to believe so much of the world is in turmoil. There are many forces coalescing on humanity just now – illness, financial anxiety, international uprisings, suspicion… All of these are hallmarks of the “dark side”, and not indicators of our Heavenly Father. Which beg these questions: What is prayer? Why should we do it? Will it make a  difference? The short answer is, yes. Consider this –  Jesus, who is our best and highest Model, did it regularly. He went off by Himself to pray. It was a habit. It seemed to be a deep longing…

    Pure

Today I woke up thinking about purity, and how the word is bandied about in marketing, used by God to describe holiness, or as an adjective to express something wonderful and good. In the still-dark morning, I began to mull over what pure means in terms of everyday life. Random thoughts were… Pure joy. Pure chocolate. Pure water. Let your mind wander for a moment. What pure things would you enjoy or appreciate today? Love? Peace?  Freedom? Take a second to think of some things. I also decided to look up the word to see if there are nuances that may open up this little rabbit hole a bit more.…

    Nothing Hidden

Today I was listening to a very informative message on the “unseen” dimensions or worlds that surround us. Some may cringe at the concept. I do not find that hard to believe or even imagine. After all, I do not see electricity, unless it is in a bolt of lightning, yet it’s very easy to see its effects. I suppose picturing these forces uses the same part of my brain that writes fiction. You may think I’m whacked, and that’s ok. 🙂 I recognize there are two distinct spiritual worlds – both light and dark. Each clamors for the souls of Man. The original movie Star Wars painted an analogy…

    Listening to You

In the quiet, in the hush, We lift our hands toward you. Reaching, longing, listening hard For Him whose voice is True. The anxious thoughts, the hurried pace Are swept away with peace. Our Savior and our dearest Lord, Allow us at His feet. It’s here we place our treasured hopes, And dreams within His hands. Knowing He was pierced for us, And all our days are planned. Oh Jesus, how You call to those Who listen as we pause, Your love, it beckons us to You In spite of all our flaws. With tears and gratitude we give You all our thanks and praise. For Your life now is…
