Whispers of Hope: A Poem for the Dark Days
Note: I wrote this poem yesterday for a friend who’s been wading through a heavy season of sorrow. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there’s a quiet presence — a harbinger of hope — waiting to bring light. I hope these words resonate with and reassure anyone who needs them today.
I’ve whispered in the wind,
Felt rain splash in my eyes –
Maybe they were tears,
I did not recognize.
When darkness seemed complete,
And loneliness unending.
The others watching me
Knew not I was pretending.
The swirling thoughts and questions,
Clamoring and fear,
Distracted me from seeing
You – motionless and near.
Your presence unassuming
On my periphery.
A harbinger of hope,
Standing silently.
How could I not have seen you?
Or sensed the love you are.
The atmosphere is different…
And you are never far.
The chatter in my head
Disperses, and is gone.
Joy comes in the morning –
And you provide the dawn.
