A Little Magic

So many days roll through the calendar year. They tick off like they are aboard a powered card shuffler. Sometimes they may appear to be nondescript…

And then one comes along that is momentous. You may not think it, feel it, or see it during the moment. It may be through the haze of hindsight that you truly understand its implications. Then, there are others that announce themselves by knocking brazenly at your door. It is as though the earth shifts on its axis and the polar caps are relocated. Yet, each in its own way affects us.

I suspect this year we may have all had all of these types of experiences. Whether it’s in the coping mechanisms required for life that bring us to a fork in the road, or perhaps there has been a tremendous arrival of a new family member, a milestone, or a mission accomplished. Put a stake in the ground! Take note of the things that hone us. While the days we are in may seem consumed with negativity, the real daily choice is still ours. Are we going to live rejoicing, or just survive? I hope to intentionally pick the former, because it is infinitely superior. That’s what joy is. So different than simple happiness.

Today, under a blazing blue Texas sky, I am grateful. Life is seldom on script – or, at least on our script, but there is a Master one written by an infallible Hand. Let me encourage you to view your days through the lens of the divine.

Look up. There is more here than the mundane. There is magic, too. Embrace it.
