Lift Your Voice
One day during the extreme lock-down – it was as if fear was a tangible thing…a slimy, force that was breathing sulfur all around. My neighborhood was quiet – too quiet. There were no jets flying into DFW. It was as though the world ground to a halt. It was as if paralysis had set in.
It was hideous.
I had bought a guitar recently…a pretty Martin acoustic that replicated a dearly loved one that I had gotten on my 11th birthday from my parents. It became a sword, a shield and a flame thrower.
When I think of it now – it was almost like taking 5 smooth stones – like David. It didn’t seem like much on the outside. I grabbed a chair and my guitar and parked on the entryway to my house. I began to play and sing. I praised God. It was as though the fear, the anxiety, the cold, slippery hand of death and isolation began to lose its grip.
Focus is necessary. Praise is a powerful thing. Keeping our hearts and mind centered on the TRUTH, rather than the latest story, is critical. The good news is, God never changes, never wavers. His love and care are not bound by ideology, political polls or the latest trends. He supersedes all of that.
So, grab your guitar – or whatever you have available – and bring along your heart. The time is now to realize that each and every one of us make a difference in the atmosphere we inhabit. It’s up to us – not anyone else – to tip the scales. Lift up your voice. Light up the darkness. Alone, with others – whatever it takes. Start breaking up the sticky morass of lies that the spiders of deceit have woven.
Don’t like what you see? Start thanking God for Who He Is. Do it out loud. Watch what happens. Darkness will begin to recede. Fear will go to low tide. Faith will increase. Hope will abound. Life will begin to pulse in your veins. Truth overcomes lies, because God is bigger than the wiles of darkness.
We can do this – we really can. Because the things we are encountering now are not eternal…but our beautiful Savior is!
