Learning Up
It’s cloudy and the winds are shifting today. You can feel it when you walk outside. The clouds are acrobats of grey tumbling overhead. You can almost feel the northern winds approaching, even though the temperatures are mild just now.
Also today I’ve been thinking about the sovereignty of God. With our world and culture in such a state of agitation, one almost can’t help but wonder what is next. It seems, like the skies above, our very world is in a chaotic time of change.
I remember when I was in Music School, they told us in times of social and cultural revolution, the music also changed dramatically. It was a reflection. It will be interesting to hear what comes next in that regard.
Anyway, back to today – even though it may FEEL like things are unsettled, the TRUTH is, they are ordered and going according to plan. It might not be the Plan of Humanity, or the Democrats, Republicans or the Dallas Cowboys. Regardless of what “tipping point” events occur, God is still on His throne. Jesus is still the Light of the World. The Eternal, Everlasting Creator is still holding us all in the palm of His hand.
I’m learning. Every day. When I look up, the distractions and questions that swirl here pale in significance. My eyes are lifted. The sights are glorious. Yep, I’m learning up.
“I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from which comes my help.
My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved: he that keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper: the LORD is your shade upon your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: he shall preserve your soul.
The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.”
Psalm 121 New King James 2000
